The vampire facial, otherwise known as the blood facial, has become a favorite treatment gaining the attention of many including celebrities. The vampire treatment combines platelet rich fibrin (PRF) with microneedling … a deathly good combination this Halloween season! We’re giving you the inside scoop of what a vampire facial is, its benefits and what to expect.

The Process of a Vampire Facial
Blood Draw & PRF Separation
Let’s start by explaining what a vampire facial entails. Platelet-rich fibrin or better known as PRF, is made from your own blood and a protein matrix called fibrin. Similar to a routine blood draw, a small amount of blood is drawn from your body and is spun in a lab tool called a centrifuge. This process allows your blood too, become a gel-like substance. This gel substance is what we like to call “liquid gold” as it’s made up of a high concentration of white blood cells, fibrin, and stem cells (growth factors) that regenerate collagen and elastin significantly improving the appearance of skin and promoting hair growth.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a micro needling pen. The microneedling pen contains small needles that perform controlled injuries to the area of skin we are treating. These controlled injuries stimulate collagen and elastin production which in turn improves the appearance and texture of your skin. This improvement includes minimizing fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, scarring, crepey skin and more!
PRF Application + Microneedling
We then take the Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) aka liquid gold and apply that to the skin during the microneedling process. This provides an even better result than microneedling alone resulting in younger, healthier, and more vibrant skin. The vampire facial treatment from the start of the numbing process to the end of the treatment is typically about an hour.
All the Benefits of Microneedling:
Brighter more even skin tone
Little to No Downtime
Reduces fine lines, large pores and even scars including stubborn acne scars!
Stimulates collagen and elastin production aka firmer, smoother, younger looking skin with each treatment!
Who is a Good Candidate for Vampire Facial Treatment?
Essentially anyone who is looking to reduce signs of aging or improve their skin texture is a candidate for a vampire facial! The beauty of microneedling is that it is safe on all skin types!
What to Expect After the Treatment
The day of and day after a vampire treatment you can expect your skin to appear similar to a sunburn, mildly tender and red. Depending on how aggressive the treatment was you may experience mild swelling. By Day 2 post vampire facial treatment, your skin will appear dry, dull or flakey. Days 5 to 7 you are left with more even, brighter, plumper, smaller pore containing skin. For examples of post vampire treatment photos click here. For optimal results a minimum of three vampire facials are recommended spaced apart 4 to 6 weeks.
